# Weight Calculator (Physics)

Last updated: Monday, May 01, 2023

Weight is a measure of the gravitational force on an object whereas mass is a unit of measure that describes the quantity of matter in a physical body. For practical reasons, weight and mass are interchangeable, and both are measured in kilogram in everyday life, as the gravity of Earth is assumed to be constant.

The formula for determining the weight is defined as:
$$W$$ $$=$$ $$m$$ $$\cdot$$ $$g$$
$$g$$: the gravity (Earth's gravity is approx. 9.807 meter/square second)
$$m$$: the mass of the object
$$W$$: the weight
The SI unit of weight is: $$Newton \text{ }(N)$$
